What are dental Crowns?
Dental crowns are custom-made restorations used to cover and protect a damaged, decayed, or weakened tooth. They are designed to restore the tooth’s shape, strength, and function while blending seamlessly with your natural smile. At Richmond Implant & Smile Studio, we offer high-quality crowns crafted from durable, lifelike materials to ensure long-lasting results.
Dental crowns are ideal for protecting teeth after root canals, restoring broken or worn-down teeth, and covering large fillings. The process typically involves two visits—one for tooth preparation and digital impressions, and a second for the precise placement of your crown—ensuring a strong, natural-looking result.
Who's a candidate for a dental Crown?
Dental crowns are ideal for patients who have:
A tooth that is severely decayed or damaged but still has a healthy root
A cracked or worn-down tooth needing reinforcement
A tooth that has undergone a root canal and needs protection
A discolored or misshapen tooth that affects the smile’s appearance

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do dental bridges last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, dental bridges can last 10–15 years or longer.
Is the procedure painful?
Most patients experience minimal discomfort. Local anesthesia is used during preparation, and any post-procedure sensitivity usually subsides quickly.
Can I eat normally with a dental bridge?
Yes. Once your bridge is in place and you’re used to it, you can chew and eat normally. It’s best to avoid very hard or sticky foods that could damage the bridge.
How do I take care of my dental bridge?
Maintain excellent oral hygiene by:
Brushing twice daily
Flossing under the bridge (using floss threaders or water flossers)
Visiting your dentist for regular cleanings and exams
How do bridges compare to implants or dentures?
Bridges are fixed and faster than implants but require alteration of adjacent teeth. They’re more stable and natural-looking than removable dentures, though implants are typically the longest-lasting solution.
