What is an Implant Bridge?
An implant bridge is a dental prosthesis used to replace multiple missing teeth by anchoring the bridge to dental implants, rather than natural teeth. It’s ideal when several teeth are missing in a row but not the entire arch. Unlike the All-on-4 or All-on-X systems, which replace a full arch of teeth using 4 to 6 implants, implant bridges typically use 2 or more implants to support a smaller span of teeth. They’re fixed, non-removable, and offer exceptional strength, function, and esthetics—without compromising adjacent natural teeth.
Who's a candidate for an implant bridge?
Missing Multiple Teeth in a Row
– Especially 2–4 adjacent teeth with healthy bone in the area.Healthy Jawbone
– Adequate bone volume and density to support implants, or willingness to undergo bone grafting if needed.Good Oral Hygiene
– Healthy gums, free from active periodontal disease or infection.Non-Smoker or Willing to Quit
– Smoking can increase the risk of implant failure and slow healing. In Good General Health
– No uncontrolled medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, autoimmune disorders) that might impair healing.Prefer a Fixed Restoration Over a Removable Option
– Candidates who want a stable, non-removable alternative to partial dentures.Have One or More Natural Teeth Missing, but Not a Full Arch
– Unlike All-on-4 (which replaces an entire arch), implant bridges are great when a partial segment of teeth needs replacement.

The Treatment Process (Average span: 2-3 Months)
Appointment 1
Consultation

Free consultation and 3D imaging (CBCT scan). We’ll review your needs, discuss available treatment options, and create a customized plan just for you.
Appointment 2
Work up

During this visit, we’ll complete your treatment consent forms, review financial arrangements, take intraoral scans and pre-operative photographs, and provide you with detailed pre-op instructions. If everything is in place financially and you’re ready to move forward, we can combine this with your first visit—so you can choose your surgery date without delay.
Appointment 3 (Appt 1,2 & 3 can be combined into 1)
Surgery Day

On the day of your implant bridge surgery, any remaining tooth roots will be gently removed and the area thoroughly cleaned to eliminate infection. Two dental implants will be placed into the jawbone at the planned sites. If the implants achieve good initial stability, we may place a temporary bridge immediately. If not, you’ll receive a temporary partial denture to maintain your smile during healing.
A CBCT scan will also be taken to capture a baseline image of your bone levels and confirm the exact position of the implants.
You’ll return for a follow-up visit in about 2 months, where we’ll begin the exciting process of designing your permanent teeth!
Appointment 4 (2 months after surgery)
2 Months Follow-Up

At this visit, we’ll take a new CBCT scan and an updated digital scan of your implants.
These scans allow us to capture precise details of your healing and implant positions. The information will be used to design and fabricate your custom final bridge, ensuring an accurate fit and natural appearance.
Appointment 5 (2.5 months after surgery)

At this visit, we’ll remove your temporary bridge and place your final, custom-made bridge. We’ll seal the access holes with a durable composite material. This visit typically takes place approximately 2-3 months after the surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many implants are needed for a bridge?
Typically, two implants are used to support a bridge replacing three or more teeth. The exact number depends on your case and how many teeth are missing.
How is an implant bridge different from All-on-4?
An implant bridge usually replaces a few teeth, while All-on-4 replaces an entire arch. All-on-4 uses 4–6 implants for full-arch restoration, whereas an implant bridge is more localized.
What is the healing time after implant placement?
Initial healing typically takes 8–12 weeks. During this time, your implants integrate with the bone. After that, we begin the process of fabricating your final bridge.
Will I get a temporary bridge?
Yes, if your implants are stable enough at the time of surgery, a temporary bridge may be placed the same day. If not, a removable partial denture may be provided during healing.
How much does an implant bridge cost?
Costs vary depending on the case, but a typical implant bridge with two implants and a pontic may cost around $7,600. This does not include extractions, grafting, custom abutments, or temporary restorations.
Is the procedure painful?
The procedure is done under local anesthesia or sedation. Most patients report minimal discomfort and manage post-op symptoms with over-the-counter pain medication.
How long does an implant bridge last?
With proper care and hygiene, an implant bridge can last 15 years or more. Regular dental checkups and cleanings are essential for longevity.
How do I care for my implant bridge?
Brush and floss daily, and use tools like interdental brushes or water flossers. Routine dental visits will help maintain your bridge and monitor your implant health.
