However, working on an implant prosthesis that was designed and fabricated by another office can be more complicated than routine dental care. Different offices may use different implant systems, screws, components, materials, and laboratory techniques. For this reason, we have established a clear process for patients seeking treatment for an existing All-on-4 or full-arch restoration.
What Does It Cost to Evaluate an Existing All-on-4 or Full-Arch Implant?
3D CT Scan – $250
The first step is a 3D dental CT scan (CBCT).
This allows us to evaluate the implants, surrounding bone, and other important structures before attempting to remove or work on your existing teeth.
Fee: $250
Removal of the Full-Arch Teeth and Inspection – $1,000
In many situations, the fixed implant bridge must be removed before we can determine exactly what is happening underneath it.
This appointment allows us to remove the prosthesis, inspect the implants and restorative components, and determine what options may be available.
Fee: $1,000
This fee applies to removal and inspection of the existing full-arch prosthesis.
Replacement Prosthetic Screws
If the prosthetic screws need to be replaced during the appointment, the following fees apply:
- 4 replacement screws: $250
- 6 replacement screws: $300
Replacement is dependent on our ability to identify and obtain compatible components for your implant system.
Can My Teeth Be Put Back the Same Day?
We cannot guarantee that your existing teeth can be reinstalled the same day.
Once the prosthesis is removed, we may discover issues that could not be identified beforehand. These can include damaged or stripped screws, fractured components, incompatible implant parts, damage to the prosthesis, implant-related concerns, or other restorative complications.
Our priority is to determine what is clinically appropriate rather than promise a same-day result before we know what is underneath the restoration.
In some cases, the teeth may be able to be reinstalled. In other cases, additional treatment, replacement components, laboratory work, or fabrication of a new prosthesis may be necessary.
Why Is Working on Dental Implants From Another Office More Complicated?
Full-arch implant dentistry is not standardized across every dental practice.
Different offices may use different:
- Implant manufacturers
- Multi-unit abutments
- Prosthetic screws
- Screwdriver systems
- Implant connections
- Prosthesis designs
- Materials and laboratory workflows
Without the original treatment records, implant information, and component specifications, it may take additional diagnostic work to determine exactly what was used.
Whenever possible, we recommend obtaining your implant records, implant brand and sizes, restorative component information, and laboratory records from the office that originally completed your treatment.
